Distant Memories, a journey into the sound unconscious
It is with great joy that I present to you my first studio album. Recorded this summer with producer Robert Lafond at AUM Studio, this album represents several years of sonic research to find that space of freedom, where sound is born from silence, where surrender is filled with the magic of the moment. Each piece was entirely improvised, then we worked on them to find their unique orchestration. "Distant Memories" are sound paintings, where each piece showcases the unique nature of an instrument, like an ancient memory that resurfaces, evocative of a dreamlike space. In this project, I was accompanied by the talented musicians Saeed Kamjoo on kamanche (Iranian violin), Christophe Cinq on sitar, Vahel on Native American flute, Gregor Zürcher on djembe and Rav Vast (tongue drum) and Floris Tijmen Van Vugt on duduk (Armenian oboe).
Memories from Afar, a sound journey in the unconscious
It is with great joy that I release a first studio album recorded under the direction of Robert Lafond at the AUM studio in Quebec. This album represents several years of sound research in order to find this space of freedom, where sound is born of silence, when a state of surrender is filled with the magic of the moment. Each piece was entirely improvised, and then, we worked on them to find their own unique orchestration. The title "Memories from Afar" has been chosen with a desire to create sound tapestries, where each piece features the unique nature of an instrument, like an ancient memory that resurfaces, evocative of a dreamlike space. For this album, I was accompanied by talented musicians Saeed Kamjoo on the kamanche (Iranian violin), Christophe Cinq on the sitar, Vahel on the Native American flute, Gregor Zürcher on the djembe and on the Rav Vast (tongue drum) and Floris Tijmen Van Vugt on the duduk (Armenian oboe).
